When Universal Marina in Hampshire opened their first coffee shop, they needed a point of sale system that was easy to use, but scalable, and with great support from the supplier. Dinerware ticked all the boxes.
Set in tranquil, environmentally protected surrounds on the River Hamble, Universal has been transformed into a state-of-the-art yachting gem, both on and off the water. They pride themselves on a welcoming team of staff, and a community of diverse businesses and services to meet all leisure and sailing needs. The staff know sailing, but they were new to coffee shop catering. “Because Universal Marina were new to hospitality operations they needed a company that could provide onsite installation, training and online support when required,” explains Nick Caines, Sales Director at HBM Systems who supplied the solution. “The software needed to be simple yet allow scope for future expansion.
The obvious candidate for the job was Dinerware.” Coffee Shop 8, now open at the Marina, boasts a wide variety of takeaway food and drink, along with organic and ‘free from’ products. In addition, the coffee shop stocks unique items such as preserves, chutneys, dressings, sauces, pastas, biscuits and more. “Dinerware has made our transition from non coffee shop operators to finding ourselves running one effortlessly,” says Richard Burlingham, the Marina’s Head of Commercial Operations.
“Starting with our initial discussions and online demonstration I was really impressed with what the system could offer us. Having not used EPOS before, the simplicity in making menu changes, daily operations and reporting is great. “I am also excited about looking at the Online Ordering module as we have a lot of businesses onsite at the marina that I feel would really benefit from this service. Equally important, the backup and support that we have received from HBM has been second to none.”
